Big Waves Ahead

Any of my close friends could tell you about my love-hate relationship with my hair. It's thick, it's wavy, and it decides on its own when it feels like cooperating. I often joke about what it would have been like to live out my teens and early twenties in the '80's, free to let my hair grow wild without the obsessive maintenance it requires. Throw me a sweatband and I would have fit in perfectly. Alas, my heart (and my hair) have been jumping little leaps of joy lately since the talk of big hair has been making a comeback in 2009. With obvious eighties influences like exaggerated shoulders, velvet, and plenty of poofs (perfect for tacky prom theme parties!) overtaking the fall runways, is bold hair the logical next step? If the fashion mags are any indication, the answer is yes. But is it time to retire the hair straightener altogether? I'm not so sure I'm ready to part with it just yet. Baby steps...
