A recent brunch excursion to Wonderland themed restaurant, Alice's Tea Cup on East 64th Street, reminded me of an old favorite editorial shot by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue. WhileVogue put their spin on Lewis Carroll's darling in blue back in 2003, Alice is making quite the comeback as of late with Tim Burton's remake of the Disney film opening in theaters this March. It's been six years since Vogue published "Alice in Wonderland," but it still makes my list of best fashion editorials, ever. Besides the delectable blue frocks crafted by the likes of Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Karl Lagerfeld, Leibovitz's photographs are proof that fashion truly can tell a story. When Carrie Bradshaw appeared in the final season of Sex and the City swimming in the frothy fabric of the same Versace gown (bottom photo), I died a little inside...in a good way! I can't imagine a more perfect Alice than doe-eyed Natalia Vodianova, nor a more entertaining Queen of Hearts than John Galliano, for that matter. Tim Burton's got some serious competition, if you ask me.
